The third annual Transgender Religious Leaders Summit was held in conjunction with NCTE's Lobby Day, bringing together 50 people from around the US and Canada who are working to change policies within their communities of faith and in the public arena. The event featured workshops lead by Nicole Garcia of Lutherans Concerned, Barbara Satin of the Institute for Welcoming Resources, Barb Greve of the Unitarian Universalist church, and Rev. Dr. Julie Nemecek of Michigan Equality.

Kate Bornstein challenged and intrigued the audience with her keynote address, "The Tao of Mitzvah, Sabbath and Boddisatva," which considered the ways in which marginalized people can create good in our lives and in the world. The "Get out of hell free" cards distributed during the presentation were particularly well received.

The Unitarian Universalist Washington Office for Advocacy led a morning session on both how and why people of faith participate in public policy decisions, training the people present to go and meet with their members of Congress during NCTE's Lobby Day. Many thanks to Adam Gerhardstein and Orelia Busch from the UUA and Stephen Baines from the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice who led the training.
